An amateur boxer disgraced his sport when he sucker punched his opponent after being beaten by him.

The shocking clip went viral in 2022 as the two young fighters competed in a 54kg junior bout with a very controversial conclusion.

The disgraceful incident was caught on video

The boxer in blue came out on top in the fight and was awarded the victory on points by the judges.

His arm was raised by the referee and he dropped to his knees in celebration.

Meanwhile the beaten boxer in red was clearly less than happy.

Regardless, he didn’t initially overreact or throw his toys out of the pram.

To begin with, both boxers showed sportsmanship by shaking the hands of their opponent’s trainers.

They touched fists and there appeared to be respect between them.

The defeated boxer tried to exit the ring but was stopped by his trainers.

They reminded him that he still had to exchange medals with his opponent.

The victorious boxer in blue was handed a medal by the referee and put it around the neck of his beaten opponent in red.

He gave him a tap on the shoulder as he did so.

The punch landed flush, but didn’t move the boxer in blue

Then, astonishingly, the defeated boxer in red placed a medal around the neck of the victor and quickly smashed him with a sucker punch left hook.

The boxer in blue was unable to get his hands up in time and so took the shot flush in his face.

Nevertheless, he stayed standing and admirably didn’t retaliate.

The boxer in red made a swift exit from the ring in disgrace.

Thankfully, no such scenes have been seen again in amateur boxing since.

Instead the sport has been plagued by various other controversies and is now facing expulsion from the Olympics as a result.
